My Gym Bag Essentials

Hopefully, this article gives you an insight into some gym equipment that you can buy to help with your training and help you to reach your goals. I have included website addresses to copy and paste if you want to purchase the equipment.

Weightlifting Belt (Modifit Red Olympic Weight Lifting Belt)

  • Why? the weightlifting belt is useful for me when I am doing my heavy lifting days.

  • Helps stabilise my spine more and also may help you in terms of a placebo effect.

  • I only use this on my heavy lifts as an extra support aid. On my lighter lifts, I want my core to have to work hard and not be assisted by the belt.

  • If I carry it over my shoulder it also reminds me of WWE when the wrestlers won the title belts for some reason. This makes me feel hardcore.

Weightlifting shoes (Adidas Powerlift 3.1)

  • Why? Flat heel. Also, the mid foot strap gives me confidence that my foot is secure in the shoe. In particular when I am doing my heavy lifts, I don’t want my feet to be unstable in the shoe!

  • It enables me to get greater depth in my squat, due to the heel height of being .6’. As I prefer low bar squatting, I opted for this shoe as I don’t need as high of a heel to help with my depth. Also, I incorporate some endurance style bodyweight supersets and this shoe is a lightweight shoe in comparison to other weightlifting shoes.

  • As weight lifting shoes go, they are good value for money.

Hand bar straps (XXR Sports)

Why?

  • I haven’t got the best grip strength and so when I am doing deadlifts (e.g.) my grip goes before my legs. Therefore, when I lift heavy I use hand wraps so that my limiting factor isn’t my grip and it is the fact I have fatigued my leg muscles.

Weightlifting gloves (RDX Women’s Weightlifting Gloves)

Link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004XJ571G/ref=pe_1909131_77697001_tnp_email_TE_AMZLdp_1?th=1

Why? If i’ve destroyed my hands to the point of painful calluses then gloves help alleviate any pain and can aid with grip.

Boxing Gloves (RDX Boxing pads and gloves)

Link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OZTB6H8/ref=pe_1909131_77697001_tnp_email_TE_AMZLdp_1

  • Why? I don’t want to use the gyms sweaty, smelly, holey, boxing gloves.

  • I also enjoy boxing with my sister so having gloves and pads gives us the opportunity to box at home.

Extra info:

Resistance Bands

Why? At the moment, I use these to improve my pull ups and to warm up for a leg workout.

Trainers that I wear:

  • Nike Metcon 4- for weightlifting/box jumps

  • Nike Free TR Flyknit 3- for cardio and HIIT
